Glenn Wilcox

Associate Professor of Architecture

Glenn Wilcox is an educator, designer, and maker whose work engages a large span of materials and processes, both analog and digital. His projects range from furniture to interiors and lighting design, to adaptive reuse, boat fabrication, and less categorical investigations. He has always built his own work and values both the physicality of making and the material intelligence it requires. Current work focuses on the use of bio-based materials for furniture production and various forms of nomadic dwelling.  He often collaborates with Anca Trandafirescu as area.architecture. Together they have received numerous recognitions, including a citation award in Architect Magazine’s R+D Awards for their carbon fiber research project, “c-Lith” (2014); a special mention in Architizers A+ Awards for the “Flying Carpet” project (2014), which also received a Huron Valley American Institute of Architects Award (2013); an honorable mention in the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture Faculty Design Awards for “Hot Air” (2010); and an honorable mention in the 99K House Competition (2008). Wilcox has a Bachelor of Architecture from Temple University and a Master of Architecture from Cornell University.

When not working on a new project he will be dreaming one up while off on an adventure sailing to a distant shore, cycling to the middle of nowhere, or some combination of the two.
