Arash Adel received the 2023 New Research Award from the Architectural Research Centers Consortium (ARCC) at the 2023 ARCC International Conference in Dallas.
Kathy Velikov, Cathryn Dwyre, Chris Perry, and David Salomon (editors), released the new book Ambiguous Territory: Architecture, Landscape and the Postnatural, published by Actar. The book launch will take place at Rizzoli Books, New York on February 1, 2023.

Charlie O’Geen and Peter von Bülow, along with collaborators Catherine Page Harris (University of New Mexico, co-founder of Poured Earth Collaborative), Thierry Joffroy (Université Grenoble-Alpes, and president of International Centre for Earth Construction), CRAterre, and McLean Street Sculpture Park, Detroit, received a 2022 Pressing Matters Grants from Taubman College for their project “LImiting Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Eliminating Portland Cement.” Link

Adel’s paper is titled “Robotic Timber Assembly: A Novel Approach for the Robotic Construction of Non-standard Timber Structures Made from Short Elements.” Meibodi, McGee, and Bayramvand’s paper is titled “Robotic 3D Printing Multilayer Building Envelope.” Former MS-DMT students (Zidek, J., Aman, L., Li, X., and Alhashemi, J.) also presented their paper “Integrative Green Building Envelope: Large Scale Robotic Additive Manufacturing” under the guidance of Mania Aghaei Meibodi. Papers will be made available on the open access platform CumINCad. Arash Adel, Matias del Campo, Tsz Yan Ng, and Kathy Velikov were moderators for paper sessions at the conference.

The talk, titled “The Case for R+D,” is part of the annual, one-week Corbelleti Competition for upper level architecture students.
