Mania Aghaei Meibodi

Assistant Professor of Architecture

Architect Dr. Mania Aghaei Meibodi is Assistant Professor of Architecture at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Michigan. Aghaei Meibodi has been a leader in developing novel computational design and fabrication methods suitable for large scale manufacturing in building industry. During her time at ETH Zurich, she contributed to several cutting-edge projects and shaping of Digital Building Technologies group (dbt). Aghaei Meibodi led smart slab project at the DFAB House, being the world’s first full-scale architecture project to use 3D sand printing for its formwork, as well as Deep Façade, which introduced the advantages of 3D printing for production of complex mold and revival of cast metal in architecture. Prior to ETH, she designed and built multiple timber structures using robotic and digital fabrication in Sweden. Aghaei Meibodi’s research continues to reshape the landscape of architecture and building industry through machine learning, robotic and 3D printing.
